Alaaddin Mosque
The oldest surviving mosque in Ankara, built inside the citadel walls in 1178 during the reign of Seljuk Sultan Kılıçarslan II.
Located inside the inner citadel walls of Ankara Castle, the mosque was constructed in 1178 by Seljuk Prince Muhiddin Mesud Shah, son of Sultan Kılıçarslan II.
Its 1178 carved walnut minbar, made without nails using the interlocking kündekari technique, is one of the world's oldest and most prized examples of Seljuk woodwork.
