About this part of the city
Mahmut Paşa Bedesten
15th-century 10-domed monumental Ottoman covered bedesten; today serving as the main exhibition hall of the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations.
Built between 1464 and 1471 by Grand Vizier Mahmut Pasha, this monumental 10-domed covered bazaar represents the pinnacle of early Ottoman commercial stone architecture.
Originally housing 102 lockable trade chambers, the building was transformed in the Republican era into the main exhibition gallery of the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, displaying irreplaceable prehistoric, Hittite, and Urartian treasures.
