Çubuk

Situated 35 km north of central Ankara, Çubuk is home to Lake Karagöl, a picturesque volcanic crater lake located 30 km from the district centre, surrounded by dense pine and oak forests.

The historic Çubuk-1 Dam Recreation Area, the first dam of the Turkish Republic (1936), was completely restored and reopened to the public by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality on October 29, 2020. It features extensive nature trails, picnic grounds, event lawns, and the faithfully restored historic Atatürk House.

Geographically registered Çubuk Pickles represent the district’s premier gastronomic brand, celebrated each year since 2005 at the International Çubuk Pickle and Culture Festival. The district is also famous for mining and polishing Çubuk Agate, a distinctive semi-precious mineral gemstone.
